It's taken a while for me to calm down enough to blog about the oil spill in the Gulf, but I think I'm ready now. I have been boiling over this ever since it happened. I mean, it's bad enough that the oil spill even ocurred in the first place, but when you have a company like BP who has lied and delayed so much, it has turned into an unfortunate event.
What makes me even angrier is that this was all caused by faulty equipment either produced or owned by BP. In fact, every mishap BP has been involved with, the culprit has always been faulty equipment, safety violations, etc. In other words, it's always been their fault. But, oh, this one disaster takes the cake. The Gulf spill makes the Exxon-Valdez look puny in comparison. At least Exxon didn't lie and delay. At least they were out there doing something about it. Some scientists even said that this spill is twice that of the Exxon-Valdez.
One things that really upset me was seeing footage of CNN's Anderson Cooper in a boat with Louisiana's governor and other officials in one of the marshes on the coast. Cooper, with a glove on, dipped his hand down into what was suppose to be water. When he took his hand out, it looked as if he had just dipped it in a vat of chocolate syrup. It was disgusting! Now, BP, more than a month after the fact, has started a procedure called "Top Kill" which is suppose to plug the leak. They also said it would be plugged in 24 hours. Now that has changed to 48 and it'll probably be a week tomorrow. BP just continues to lie and not answer questions. I have always kind of liked BP. I get gas for my car from them 99% of the time, but all that will definitely change!
