Finally Over

Posted on 21:03 by Unknown
Last night, Pres. Obama officially declared the combat mission in Iraq over! As you may or may not know, I have really been against the war since it began. I mean, I have no problem with the US fighting terrorism, but it shouldn't have been in Iraq. I think by now, most of us can say that the war should have been focused solely on Afghanistan. I have always believed that, if we had focused our forces on Afghanistan instead of Iraq, we would be very close to finding the masterminds behind the attacks on our country. That's just my belief but I'm sticking to that. Anyway, I am so pleased with how this has played out. The president has done exactly what he said he was going to do way back before he took office: that he would end the Iraq War with dignity and pride. I believe he has accomplished this. Hopefully now, America get be restored to some degree.

Time For Something New

Posted on 22:10 by Unknown
Well, as you can see, I have changed my blog template again! This time, I went with Our Blogger Templates mainly because I can adjust fonts, font colors, etc. in the new Blogger designer mode with these templates and not with the other templates I used. The actual name is of this template is "Werd" (hence the letters in the header picture) and I hope you like the way everything is laid out. Maybe this one will be a keeper for a while. Also, I'm really excited that Blogger has a Stats section for your blog so you can keep tabs on things without having to sign up for another website to do it!

Losing The Gray?

Posted on 08:10 by Unknown
CNN main man, Anderson Cooper, may soon be $1 Million richer. The anchor was reportedly offered the moolaa to try a "Go Away Gray" pill for 60 days and Tweet/Facebook his thoughts. I chose this for an Oops Award on two accounts: 1) Why would he even think of ditching the gray? and 2) Who in the world would try a new pill made by a company named Rise-N-Shine? Cooper's gray hair has pretty much been a trademark of his persona on CNN, why ditch it now? Plus, I don't care how much they give me, I'm not putting some new pill made by a company called Rise-N-Shine in my mouth to see what happens. It's just crazy. I don't understand why we need a pill for everything. Soon, they'll be coming out with pills that will make us do our homework, drive a car, or whatever!

College Week One

Posted on 09:00 by Unknown
Today, I began my classes at NC State. So far, I haven't been too overwhelmed by everything. My biggest class is Weather and Climate with almost every seat filled in the campus theater. Calculus is also pretty large, with a couple hundred or so and the others have about fifty or sixty. My smallest class, however, is English with only twenty-two students.

Anyway, I'm pretty much liking how things are going so far. Some of it is a little strange and it's also weird being away from home where I've grown up for the past eighteen years. It's kind of cool how independent you are when you have free time in between classes. Like yesterday for instance, I had a two hour block in between my first and second class and I truly felt as if I could do about whatever just so I was back in time for the next class. It's cool but at the same time a little strange at first. I mean, you always have someone to hang out with (whether it be friends or family) almost for the entire day back at home. Here, it's a little different, but I think I'm getting used to it.

Hope 4 Ethiopia Update

Posted on 20:38 by Unknown
On Sunday, Grey Stone held the packing event for Change This World and Hope 4 Ethiopia. It was so much fun being able to participate in such a worthy cause. It really made me aware of how blessed I am to never worry about being hungry and never worrying about the water supply.

It's sad to see that so many families deal with this everyday and yet it can be altered so simply. We ended up packaging 225,000 meals for the malnourished in Ethiopia! You couldn't even look away for a second before it was your turn to do your part on the assembly line. It was an amazing event that I will never soon forget!

The Legacy Center

Posted on 14:19 by Unknown
Rendering Of An Entrance To The Legacy Center
What a great way to continue my posts: publishing a post highlighting God's work and my church, Grey Stone Baptist. We have been in talks about building a brand new building for our growing children's ministry for a good while, and now that dream has become reality as the church voted to move forward with construction of the building, called the Legacy Center.

This will be a two-story building and will house all the children's ministry, from nursery to fifth grade. The building will be built on Warner Street, virtually shutting down the street once it is constructed. In October or November, we will begin our capital campaign to help fund the building, and construction is set to begin in April 2011.

I am so excited about this mainly for the kids. Right now, we have our day care running during the week in an old, outdated building, our nursery in small rooms, and the rest of the kids cramped in classrooms down below the sanctuary (basically a basement). This is definitely not showing people our love for kids and it has always been kind of a concern for me. With this building, all of our children's ministry needs will be satisfied, so I am really looking forward to seeing the finished product! If you would like to find out more, click here. More photos and info coming soon!
