Drivers Ed?

Posted on 19:58 by Unknown

This one gets my Oops Award hands down. A man decided to "teach" his 8-year-old son how to drive by letting him take the wheel while he slept. Police received a call about a vehicle driving erratically on the highway. And when cops stopped the vehicle, they discovered the boy driving, the father passed out intoxicated in the passenger seat, and his 4-year-old daughter in the back watching everything unfold.

The kids were not hurt and were turned over to Child Protective Services after the incident. The man was arrested and charged with "two counts of child desertion, parent allowing a minor to drive, driving with an open container and two counts of no child restraint and no seat belt." Seriously? I mean, it's great to let your kids learn how to drive but, don't you think this is a little too young?

Idol Live: My Experience

Posted on 12:12 by Unknown
Me and Scotty McCreery
What an amazing night at the RBC Center! As I said in my previous post, I was a VIP at the concert. That meant I had great seats and got to go to a meet and greet with the Idols. Here's a little bit on my experiences last night...

Meet and Greet
This was, obviously, the most memorable part of the night. We all gathered in the box office area of the RBC Center and were led in to the room where the meet and greet was being held. Once up there, we were let in 10-15 at a time to take a group photo with all the Idols. After that, we got our hand signed photo of the Idols that was signed an hour before the meet and greet started. I ended up standing next to Casey Abrams while my mom stood next to Lauren Alaina and my grandma stood next to Scotty McCreery. In fact, when my grandma went in the room for the photo, Scotty grabbed her by the arm. I guess she reminded him of his grandma or something! This was a lot of fun but it was just beginning.

Next, the Idols were spread out in the room so we could have "mingle" time with them. We could walk up to any of the Idols who were there and get personal autographs and pictures. We only had about 30 or 45 minutes to do this and there were probably about 150 or 200 people in the room, so I thought it would be tough. However, it went smoothly and I got to talk to a lot of them.

I ended up getting a picture and autograph from Scotty, Lauren, Casey, Paul, Pia, and James. Meeting all of them was amazing but getting to meet my boy Scotty was just the highlight of the night. Everything happened so fast that all I could say to him was hey, congrats, and good luck. But it didn't matter. Just the whole fact I got to meet him and get my picture with him was awesome! My grandma and mom got a picture with him too and I think my grandma was so shocked to meet him she couldn't even speak! It was cool to meet everyone!

Concert
The concert was just as incredible. The seats were even better than I thought because of a runway like thing on the stage. That made the 8th row in the center section (where I was sitting) seem like the 3rd row! The first half of the show had some single and group numbers while the second half had memorable perfomrances from "Idol." At the end, Scotty came out and did about four songs as well as a couple group numbers. It was awesome!

The entire concert, from the meet and greet to the concert itself, was hands down the best I've ever been to. I paid a lot for the tickets but it was worth every penny. I think I would have even paid more for it if I needed to. Words simply can't describe how much fun and excitement I had. This will definitely be something I'll remember for the rest of my life! Below are the pics I took with the other Idols I met...

American Idol Live

Posted on 17:35 by Unknown
It's almost time for the American Idol Live Tour at the RBC Center. And, if I didn't mention before, I'm going as a VIP and will get to have seats on the floor very close to stage. But the best part of being a VIP is I'll also get to go to a pre-concert meet and greet where I'll get to meet some (if not all) of the finalists on tour, including the man Scotty McCreery!

I told some of the kids at the kids camp I work at about it and a couple of the girls begged me to get an autograph from Scotty. Hopefully I can but the best part is to actually meet all of them and see them face-to-face. I know it'll be a night I'll never forget!

P.S. You can keep up on my experience at the cocnert on my Twitter and, as always, I'll write a post about all my experiences after the concert.

Honeymoon In Jail

Posted on 20:27 by Unknown
Here's a pretty funny Oops Award to keep your week going. A lady in Michigan was arrested soon after she exchanged vows. The crime? A three-year-old felony identity theft case. Yes, ID theft! She was booked and released on bond but missed her court date, adding to her troubles.

And what about the guy she was marrying? Although the story didn't say anything, I can't help but think if the groom married the true person or someone else. Who knows, right?

The Blame Game

Posted on 20:54 by Unknown

I've been seeing a lot of smack going around from Congress and others about the deficit crisis we're in and how it's "all Obama's fault." Well here's what I have to say:

I'm really getting tired of people blaming the Obama administration for everything. First off, who got us where we are in the first place? Yes BUSH did. Our deficit started long before Obama took office. Don't believe me? According to the CBO Historical Budget Page and White House FY 2012 Budget national debt table Bush ranked highest in debt increase. No other president has ranked higher (including Obama). I also think it's stupid when people say to not blame Bush anymore. Nonsense! People still blame Clinton for stuff why not blame Bush?

No, I think who we really need to blame is our "lovely" Congress who can't even seem to agree on their lunch much less a national budget. I mean, it's ridiculous! Calling out their colleagues and saying Pres. Obama needs to take some medication and calm down. Yes he probably does need to take some Aspirin after dealing with this whiny bunch!

To all who want to blame (and are blaming) Obama here's my message to you: suck it up! I don't hear any great ideas coming from all you Obama haters. At least the man is trying to push Congress into action. We didn't even see that with the Bush administration.

Are You Kidding? Part 5

Posted on 20:31 by Unknown
It's that time again for another Oops Award. Lately, Lebron James has been on a roll for me, getting two of these in the past couple months. This latest award is for dunking a kid during a game of knockout they were playing at a basketball camp.

Now, most of you probably wouldn't think too much about this but, instead of a simple dunk, Lebron decides to do this erratic dunk that knocked the poor kid to the ground! The showboat Lebron later apologized to the kid by giving him a pair of his shoes. The kid seemed to accept the gift and had no problems with the incident. Really? A pair of smelly shoes as an apology? Come on Lebron!

End Of An Era

Posted on 19:47 by Unknown

We are now down to the final launch of the space shuttle program in the U.S. It's really hard to believe that, with all the history that has been made, good and bad, the program is coming to an end. Of course, I'll never forget learning about the Challenger disaster and I'll also never forget living through the disaster of Columbia. But there are some great memories as well including the best of all, in my opinion, the Moon landing.

You know, I really hate that I never got to actually go down and see a shuttle launch in person but it's been such a cool thing to see on TV. It is a spectacle that I will definitely miss as well as many Americans.

Chaos In Florida

Posted on 18:07 by Unknown
By now, you all have probably heard all about the verdict in the trial of Casey Anthony and the subsequent outrage from many who thought she was guilty of murdering her child. I myself thought she was guilty and I hadn't really followed the trial until Sunday when the defense gave its closing argument.

Based on what they said in that one moment (which basically was that the state didn't really provide good evidence that proved its case) I knew the jury would find her not guilty. Well, that happened and now people are outraged and now it's my turn to say something...GET OVER IT!

I hate to be like that because I hate like crazy that her daughter left this world so tragically. That really has nothing to do with my feelings here. What has made me mad is how people are blaming the jury and saying they are guilty of murder. Hello! The jury did exactly what they were supposed to do which, believe it or not, is to decide the fate of the accused based on the evidence given.

One person that really seems to not understand this is Nancy Grace, host on HLN. Although she is very familiar with our justice system, she still is going on rant after rant about the verdict and has continuously criticized the jury on their handling of the case. My message to her as well is to grow up and get over it! In case you haven't figured it out yet, the jury did exactly what they were suppose to. And when one juror called out Grace on her tirade, she immediately struck back with the same ignorance shown in her other rants.

Casey Anthony may or may not have murdered her daughter, we will probably never know. But I'm tired of people, including Nancy Grace, bashing the jury. They have a tough job as it is and they did the best they could under the circumstances. And my final word is this: Casey may have been acquitted but she will ultimately have to answer to the judge and jury of God one day whether she did it or not.
