MacFarlane attributes his love of music from hearing Hank Williams' ‘So Lonesome I Could Cry’ playing on his grandma's car stereo. He learned that song, line by line, until he knew it by heart. That turned out to also be a lasting memory of his grandma, who passed away in 2010. You may have seen Brendan before as a little kid who wowed people in a Chelsea, NYC guitar store...
Now a little older, MacFarlane has released his debut album, called The Road, and it's pretty darn good! It combines some gospel/soulful songs with a country and Scottish twang to them. Although he's not well-known at the moment The Sky Kid, a website that profiles young talent, is already calling him "Tennessee's best kept secret."
The video below is of a newer song, "Sat Down With The Devil." This song fits into the country/Southern Gospel category. Brendan even adds a little beatboxing to the mix. I tell you, you better watch out for this talented artist!
